I'm looking for a new laptop…what's good out there right now?
I don’t need anyhing too crazy. I don’t need it to play games or anything too graphically intensive, but I need it to have a long battery life and to be very reliable and tough.
Any suggestions?
Try the macbook. They are 1100 dollars and are apparently amazing.
I think dell laptop notebooks are the best.
didnt u hear about those dell laptop fires recently?… something wrong with their batteries…. try toshiba… its very good quality…
Go for Dell, but watch out, I heard Dell are recalling there batteries because it might explode.
Dell Laptops=90 Day Warranty.
Sony=P.O.S. HAd 2 of them, both had electrical problems. (wouldn’t boot.) several times.
HP/COMPAQ= ABout the best there is out there right now. 1 year warranty, ok customer service, reliable, used by a lot of the big companies. and I’m writing on my Compaq R4000 right now. Priced right.
Toshiba = Overpriced
Macintosh = Quality, Stylish, Good warranty, but pricey.
Dell has some good notebooks for $499 online. With some side deals, you can get the price down a little lower.
It’s not crazy, but for basic needs (99% of people) it is perfect. Battery life is fine too…these batteries aren’t the exploding/fire ones
I have an iBook G4 by Apple. Totally awesome. They lead the industry in customer sat. The OS is very stable and they have customer service better then any ones.
But don’t take my word for it….see what the market says……

I would recommend a Macbook from Apple Computer. Apple has been known to have the best service and support. In consumer reports they were ranked wth the least need of repair. YOu can go online, use MS office, check email, etc. all the basics, plus if you are interested in graphics and music you can create those too.
if u live in new york area
next sunday compusa have sale on hp /amd turion-34
1024 mb ram/80gb hd/dvdrw drive
only for 599 after rebate
best offer
turion use less power so u ger longer battery life
My company uses Dell laptops exclusively and we buy them off the Outlet site. Only buy a Latitude. The savings on Inspiron are not worth it.
i would recommend a TOSHIBA
-its not expensive
-good variety
-good quality
Check Consumer Report. I have a new laptop that’s called Qosimo by Toshiba and it’s insane. Around $2800ish. Really good sound quality. However, I’m not sure if it’s a gaming system… in a way it is since it has great graphics. Also, the Qosimo has a 17" inch screen.. or was it 19? I forgot. haha.
What is ur budget??
This is going to sound crazy, but check out the IC Power computers at, of all places, Walmart! Picked up one for my now ex g-friend and although it isn’t the most powerful thing in the world by a longshot, it does amazingly well for most basic applications and the internet. It has a long battery life (watched her play Morrowind on it for 2.5 hours before it needed to be recharged) is very lightweight, and the physical dimensions are very slim….it went for 439.00 as of last Xmas
